A couple of lads had arrived there at 2 in the morning and, finding 2 others already bivied in the cave, pitched their tent on the ledge outside.
We found them still there 12 hours later, pouring flammable liquids on a smouldering attempt at a coal fire and 'packing up' in the tent.
Jamie and I navved in the murk over Black Brow & Little Hart Crag then down High Hartsop Dodd to meet Ruth & Jenny returning down Dovedale.
