Aonach Less

Bumped into Adele & Spike again (heading up for some decent powder).

Almost white out when we set off on a bearing of 194° from the top of the last tow. Felt like we were wandering into the cornice over the east face so changed tack. Jenny's goggles cacked up in driving hail; couldn't see with them, couldn't see without them so bailed on our plan to nav over to Aonach Beag and retraced to gondola.

Checked the bearing back at Achintee and it's good (the climbing guide says 185° to top of Easy Gully). On the Harvey's 1:40 there's a 1200m re-entrant at the top of here which might account for the sense of cornicing. Would like to check this out in summer.

Whilst nerding about nav, the timing bezel on a diving watch is a faff-free way of timing a leg - no buttons and can be done with a fat wool mitt. This watch is automatic so no battery worries and the lume good enough to read the time in the wee hours for digging out.

Anyway, a bit cold/windy for fingering my phone today so here's a pic of a house we liked at Laggan.
